The Bachelorette Recap - 6/27/2011

In honor of The Bachelorette not airing yesterday, since it was a holiday...as well as the fact that the episode was epic since Bentley is such a shocking human being, I thought I would finally post The Bachelorette recap from last Monday.

Even if you missed the episode, I'm pretty sure everyone knows that Bentley made his infamous return to The Bachelorette. Who knows if Ashley truly needs closure, or if the producers were the ones who wanted Bentley to make an appearance, but either way, he'll definitely be going down in Bachelorette history.

When Bentley opens the door to his room, she gives him a hug, and then surprisingly kisses him. He then asks her to fill him in on what happened while he was gone, and interrupts her when she starts to respond. She then tries to tell him she had a hard time when he left, to which he responds "was it fun though?". How does she miss this incredibly rude question??

He then continues to confuse/manipulate her by first telling her that leaving was difficult for him, and he "wishes [he] would have done it differently". He continues to mess with her head by reminding her that he had told her, if it doesn't work out with anyone else there, that she should come to Salt Lake to (seemingly) be with him. He also tells her he "implores her to do what she needs to do", which is still incredibly evasive. She FINALLY starts to understand after he then says "knowing that I'm home it doesn't look good between me and you".

Ashley finally seems to be picking up on his not so subtle hints, and he solidifies this by saying he "feels like with where we're at with this whole journey and experience, that maybe [they] should call it a period".

Finally, her blinders come off, and she actually calls him out for wanting to come all the way to Hong Kong for a vacation since he could have easily said everything over the phone. She attributes her ability to "see through him" to their time apart, when really it was him blatantly telling her it's over.

Next, her first one on one date was with Lucas. Lucas reveals that he is a small town guy who hasn't traveled much. Their date was actually the most normal date thus far, and he seems like a genuinely nice person. First, they walked down the market, and tried some random foods. They then have dinner on a sail boat. Conversation is a little dull, but at least he is the first person to not try to throw some personal tragedy at her immediately. He instead asks her how she is doing with everything, and is very sincere. When she asks him to reveal the most difficult thing he's been through, and he is extremely vague about the details, but reveals that it was his divorce. I personally find this response to reveal that he is one of the more normal since he seemingly doesn't feel comfortable revealing such personal details to someone he just met.

In the end, she gives him the rose. I think what really grabbed her attention, and was the main cause for her to give him the rose was when he said he believed in fate (since Ashley's all about it).

Blake, Ames, Mickey, Constantine, Ben and Ryan are all invited on the group date, and are divided into teams of two. They are then told to recruit random people to acquire enough people to row a boat. Again, here's another horrendous choice for a date...and it was boring. When the competition is done, and they are all sitting on the beach, someone behind them is down on one knee, proposing. Ashley awkwardly comments on this random person's marriage proposal by saying "Aww. What are the chances?” which made me uncomfortable.

Later, they all go have drinks on the rooftop of a high rise building. Ames (who looks like he has down's syndrome) manages to steal her away from everyone, and they ride up to the top first, and him and Ashley make out in the elevator the entire way up.

However, she gives the rose to Ryan, who all of the guys despise.

The next one on one date is with J.P., who, in my opinion, is the best candidate because he is not only good looking, but seems genuine, as well. He tells her he feels they're meant to be together, and could even see himself on one knee in a month. Of course, she gives him the rose.

She then feels compelled to fill him in on the Bentley situation, and actually explains it rather well. Whereas, when she later explains what happened with Bentley to the rest of the boys, she does not articulate herself well AT ALL. As a result, most of the boys get pissed off except J.P. who says "She was just being selfless and honest". Ames backs her up as well, and says "I suppose we would all like fairy tales to be simple". Blake was pissed because to him, it seems like it belittles the time that he's been there, and is actually being kind of a dick to her, until she starts to cry. Mickey chooses to go home, and leaves on a boat.

When she returns from walking Mickey out, she goes to speak with Chris, who tells her "what the guys heard was you fell in love with Bentley, and they're second best". She then takes some time to gather her thoughts, and apologizes to everyone for "wording things incorrectly", and ensures them that she does care about them.

Who's left? Ben, J.P., Constantine, Ames, and Ryan.
