Deep Thoughts with Kenny & Patrick today! (No announcement was made today. Y.B. is a tease.)
Kenny mentioned that he thanked Keith Powell (the guest on yesterday’s show) for being on the show with him and Greg via Twitter and Keith responded by saying that Kenny needed to get him his own show. Kenny was slightly annoyed. Kenny and Patrick were also slightly annoyed with the fact that everyone kept calling in to tell Kenny that he was doing a great job without the girls and that they “knew he could do it.” It’s not that Kenny doesn’t love the positive response, but a lot of it sounded like a back handed compliment like people were surprised that he could do it on his own.
The History of Kenny and Patrick In Patrick’s mid twenties he changed his life and moved to Charleston, SC. He used to change oil at a gas station in Mt. Pleasant. He said that while he was working he was good as long as he had radio to listen to. He has always had a huge love for radio, sports radio in particular, that he got from his dad. He used to listen to this station called The Wave. He said there was this show with a host called “Stormin’ Kenny” and he said he thought to himself “this is what radio is supposed to sound like.” So fast forward to Patrick working at Cosmo radio about 5 years ago. They were trying to find someone to host a night show with Victoria and Kate White showed Patrick Kenny’s resume and he remembered him from the radio show he listened to in South Carolina around 5 years ago. He campaigned for Kenny hard core to get hired and here we are present day. Such a great story!
Patrick and Kenny took a road trip after the Bikini Bash in Miami a couple of years ago. Kenny had a comedy show in Charleston and Patrick decided he would go with him in the rental. They stopped at Kenny’s grandma Tina’s house. Patrick said the food was delicious and she was such a sweetheart. Then about 15 minutes after they left they stopped at Patrick’s aunt and uncle’s house and hung out with Patrick’s family. Kenny said meeting Patrick’s uncle was very special to him. Patrick’s sister was also there and Kenny said he wish he’d made out with her.
The brief evolution of Cosmo Radio The station started in March of 2006 with the Wake Up show with Taylor and Patrick and Victoria on the night show. Then they took Patrick to the afternoon and moved Victoria to the night. Eventually Victoria was moved to the morning show. The rest is history...
Random Beefs/Q &A Why do older guys keep dating younger? Why don’t they want to date within their own age? Patrick said that it is a ridiculous double standard that we have in society that when men want to date younger we say they know what they want. Kenny said he wished the younger women wouldn’t let the men dip down so much. They both agreed that when men do that they are just looking for someone to have sex with and it’s more about being selfish personally.
Stef called to say that she landed a great job and her boyfriend didn’t do anything, not even a hug, to acknowledge what a big deal this was. Stef said she knows he is very busy and Patrick says not to make excuses for him at all. He said when a guy loses interest and he doesn’t even respect her anymore it is a big deal. Patrick said she needs to pull back and focus on herself. That if he’s to busy then she needs to be to busy too. She needs to give him a little fear and she doesn’t deserve the way she is being treated. Patrick and Kenny both said to all the Cosmo ladies out there that if a guy is not treating you the way you want to be treated you need to do you. If you let someone treat you badly - they will always continue to treat you badly and we all deserve better than that. You can’t keep chasing a guy for the attention you want because that feeds their ego. If they aren’t giving you what you need don’t put up with it.
Jenn called to say that her boyfriend doesn’t like that she listens to the show. They have met Kenny at his comedy shows. Her boyfriend is jealous and he thinks she has an unhealthy crush on Kenny. He told her just to move to New York to be with him. Patrick asked if she did have a thing for Kenny. She admitted that if Kenny was in the same city she would question whether or not to stay with her boyfriend. Patrick said that her boyfriend is on to something then. He asked why she would stay with someone she knows she doesn’t necessarily have strong enough feelings to be with. She said that she does love him and they have been through a lot. Patrick asked if she thought she had a chance with Kenny would she leave her boyfriend. Jenn said that wasn’t real world though. Patrick said that ultimately it was about Jenn and her boyfriend though. He said he understand that she is comfortable with her boyfriend, but isn’t she doing them both a disservice by staying with him? Kenny and Patrick both said that the more honest we are about what we want in our lives the better our lives are.
Allie called in to say that she has hung out with her boyfriend’s friends before and they called her up the other day and asked her to come out to hang out with them while he was at work. Her boyfriend was made. It is a group of male and female friends so she isn’t sure why he was so mad. Kenny asked if her boyfriend had trust issues with her. Patrick thinks there might be some issues between her boyfriend and his friends and she might be caught in the middle.
Jacqueline said that her boyfriend’s family is over to frequently and they don’t get enough alone time. She has been with her boyfriend for 5 years and she has expressed this with him and he hasn’t taken it well. Kenny said that they need to learn boundaries. She has to express to her boyfriend that he has to handle this. Patrick said he is blatantly disrespecting her by not listening to her wishes. Kenny and Patrick said there needs to be compromise in this relationship.
Fun Fearless Question with Kate White How do I manage my time better? She said that you need to have more than one To Do List and plan it out by deadline. So you would have a Master To Do List and a Daily To Do List. You can break out projects over the course of days to keep yourself on track. Kate said before you leave work create the daily To Do List for the next day. She said we have to think of it like a triage nurse in the ER and manage things by how important they are as well. Kenny says the list keeps him on track and manages him as much as he manages it.
Do Men Have a Biological Clock? Kenny said he doesn’t want to be the old dad playing ball with his son. He also said he wants to be financially secure and he doesn’t want his kids to see him fighting to get ahead, he wants to already be there. Patrick asked what was more important with Kenny - money or happiness? Does he need financial security before he can move on with someone? Kenny said no, but that he is very focused on his career right now and as soon as his is comfortable in that area he will might be ready to settle down.
Kenny said he had a plan where he wanted to meet his wife when he was young and for them to go through everything together. That was his dream. He did have a love that felt like that - but then things changed. He said now he realizes that he is happier now than he was then. Patrick asked why he never proposed to his ex that he was with for about 7 years. Kenny said the original plan was that neither of them wanted to get married. Then things changed for her and she did want to get married. The situation between them came resentful and along with other circumstances the relationship ended. Kenny did have an engagement ring and Patrick wanted to know why he never made the leap. Kenny opened up and said that he realizes now that he never fully gave himself to her. He has trust issues due to his parent’s divorce when he was younger. Kenny talked quite a bit about his parent’s divorce and the impact it had on his life. He said he never wanted to lose control so he never felt that kind of pain again. Heather called in to say that her parents have been married for 30 years and she feels the pressure to add up to that. She sees all of her friends getting divorced and she doesn’t know how to feel. Patrick said we are all going through our own things in different ways and it’s important to remember that.
Kim called in and said that women need to realize that they can’t do all of the work to make a relationship work. Sometimes the men need to work on their own issues. Patrick and Kenny both agreed that if a man isn’t giving you want you want, by proposing etc, then the answer is that he’s just not that into you usually.
