Whether or not it gets chosen as a "winner" on Wake Up, I still think it's an awesome idea for any of you to try! It may be hard for the Fun Kids to execute on the show.
Have you ever heard of a miracle berry or a flavor trippin' party? Sooo fun! I did this with my neighbors. We didn't tell them anything about it ahead of time, we just asked them to bring things like pickles, guinness, lemons/limes, etc. To throw them WAY off, we asked them to bring an adult diaper too. LOL They were a little nervous about what we were cooking up for them! :)
When they all were there, we showed them everything that we had out on our counter (food suggestions below) and they made a guess or two about what we were doing. Then we took the berries out of the freezer and gave one to each person. We explained what the berries and all of the odd foods were for... and everyone participated! They have been talking about the party ever since. That was our first time, as the hosts, too... so we weren't sure of the outcome either. Loved it.

Flavor Trippin' parties are a fun and unique idea for your next get-together.
I would start off by ordering 1 or 2 berries per person. It is important to coordinate the delivery of the berries with the date of the party. The berries will need to stay frozen until it is time for the party. They will be shipped in a freezer pack, but need to be quickly transferred to your freezer to maintain the quality of the berry. For less hassle, miracle berries can be purchased in pill form. (info below on where you can buy them)
For the party, you will want to shop for foods that are sour or bitter, which should end up tasting like candy when the berry is in effect. You may want to consider keeping the theme of the party a surprise to your guests - just tell them what you want them to bring, but no other details. One person could bring pickles, another lemons and limes, etc. The mystery will drive them crazy, especially with the foods/beverages you ask them to bring.
1. Lemon – taste very sweet almost like lemonade.
2. Tomato – tastes very sweet like a sharon fruit – answers the question “Is a tomato a fruit or a vegetable?” Now we can taste it is a fruit !
3. Lime – really really sweet – like drinking lime cordial.
4. Orange – too sweet – also depends on the variety of orange, clementines are much sweeter but tangerines taste just a little sweeter, ruby red oranges are delicious.
5. Tabasco Sauce – delicious, but don’t eat too much !
6. Goats Cheese – tastes like icing sugar or as Americans call it “frosting”.
7. Vinegar – tastes Like treacle.
8. Anything Pickled like gherkins, pickled onions taste like candy.
9. Salt and Vinegar Crisps – tastes like chinese sweet and sour.
10. Guinness – tastes like chocolate milk shake, other bitters taste chocolately.
11. Blue Cheese – tastes very creamy.
12. Grapefruit – very sweet you can’t stop eating them !
13. Granny Smiths Apple or cooking apple – tastes much sweeter.
14. Strawberry – the hint of bitterness they usually have is gone and they taste like sugar coated strawberry.
15. Broccoli – much more bearable – George Bush should try it after eating the miracle berry, then he’ll soon change his mind !
16. Pizza with tomato topping – depends on the other toppings but the tomato makes the whole pizza sweet.
17. Cottage cheese taste like a creamy cake filling.
18. Cherries – taste like glace cherries / glazed cherries.
19. Cream Cheese – tastes like cheesecake.
20. Kiwi Fruit – the tang has gone and it tastes sweeter and more delicious.
The altered flavor lasts for around a half hour, though some find it can last longer. Some others may need to two or more to achieve the effect, but this is not common.
