Cocktails With Patrick Recap - 8.5.10

Another guy that should be added to the no date list: the facebook sympathy guy. He just wants some comments and attention! I love the Cocks with P guys not to date list. I think we need a copy of it!
Caitlin Boyle -Operation Beautiful: Transforming the Way You See Yourself One Post-It Note at a Time
(Check out http://operationbeautiful.com/ @BeautifulNotes) The concept of the website and the book is to leave post-it notes with compliments for other women in public places. Rather than feel bad about ourselves, be healthy, be balanced, and be positive. We are faced with unattainable beauty standards in today’s society. A good quote-scales measure weight, not worth. Caitlin put out the operation beautiful idea on her food and fitness blog (http://www.healthytippingpoint.com) and asked for her readers to participate. The idea was a huge hit, and the rest is history. I love this concept-I just put the book in my amazon.com shopping cart, and will start posting notes soon. Let’s end negative self-talk!
Lauren
Lauren came in from another studio to bring some dessert in for Patrick and Lea. Last weekend, she met a nice guy who is an excellent dancer. Date night tonight-she is meeting him for drinks later tonight (unless he gets stuck at work)! If things go well, she will consider dating him. What is Lauren’s philosophy on paying for a date? If it’s a bad date, pay your own way. She also prefers to date men who are less attractive than her. Lauren’s date tonight is not the best looking guy around, but she is very much attracted to him. Her ex was a 10, but she felt very insecure while being in that relationship. Liza from Vegas called in to compliment Lauren on her dating style-she is honest and agrees with it. Sarah called into say that she fell for her man on the dance floor. Twitter was all a buzz regarding Lauren’s dress. Some liked it, some said it was too business-like, and some were not a fan.
Do you want your significant other to be more or less attractive than you?
Research says that women typically want to be the better looking one in a relationship. A study showed that when the man is more attractive, the couple is less supportive of each other, whereas when the woman is more attractive, the couple is more willing to help each other our and be there for one another. Lindsay in Kansas thinks that a woman’s confidence and self esteem plays into this. Kaye in Jersey believes that the fear of being cheated on is a factor. In her experiences, men who have been more attractive than her have cheated, where as the less attractive were faithful. Julie has another theory on confidence. Less attractive guys that she dated were very insecure with themselves. She married a handsome man and found him to be more confident and compatible. Erin said that when the man is more attractive, the woman is very aware of it. A woman is initially attracted to the man, and he grows more appealing (personality, sense of humor, etc) to her over time. Christy has been married for 20 years. She said that the appearance of people can shift over time. When she first met her husband, he was very handsome. As they have aged, she has become the more good-looking one. There must be that underlying love for each other regardless of who is more attractive. Patrick and Lea both agreed that when a person (of either sex) is too cocky and impressed with their own appearance, it’s a turn off.

Cocktails with Patrick Recap - 7/14/10

Patrick had a great quote at the beginning of the show: “If you have enemies, that means you stood for something, and you should be proud of that.”
Jnutmeg sent a salty email about the wedding talk on Monday’s show. She didn’t like Patrick’s gift idea, him bringing a date, the RSVP situation, etc. Listeners began calling and were standing up for YB! Lots of responses-us cosmo gals (and guys) love Patrick!
Lea had the opportunity to attend the red carpet and party for the release of the Jersey Shore Soundtrack. She said it was a great evening, but the weather was very hot. Despite the heat, everyone was dressed to the nines! The event was held at a fabulous club in NYC. Lea got to talk with several attendees. Here are some of the people she talked to and what they said:
Mike “The Situation” has a song coming out.
Snooki: Lea asked her if a bar is a good place to meet guys. Snooki said no, and that a bar is a place to hook up with someone. Good places to meet guys include the library, the deli, or a pizzeria-that’s where the men are! Lea also asked Snooki about her post Jersey Shore plans. Snooki said that she is not a singer, but will probably try comedy, writing a book, developing a hair product line, and lots of other things that are in the works. She also said that Miami was insane with partying and very intense.
Lil Jon: His favorite shots are vodka or Patron, and his favorite club song is “Shots.” He has a song on the Jersey Shore Soundtrack.
J Sean: His favorite type of bathing suit on a girl is one that is close to nothing, since those leave fewer tan lines.
Lea had a great time at the event!
Words of Wisdom with Lucas:

Lucas was asked his thoughts on Twilight. He said that he wasn’t going to hate on the vampire “fad” that is going on. Out of the three big celebrity weddings over the weekend, he said that he would have wanted to go to La La and Carmelo’s wedding.
Patrick had received an email from one of his cousins regarding moving to be with her boyfriend. Patrick said that the move has to be for you. You need to ultimately be comfortable with it. The relationship may or may not work out. Have reasons for why the move works for you.
Patrick and Lea had lots of calls about this topic. Jenn in California moved for love. The relationship didn’t work, so she moved back home. She looks back on it fondly, as a life experience. Cheryl in Tennessee is a teacher. Her boyfriend was in politics, and she moved to DC with him. She wishes she had stayed behind, and followed her own dream. She brought up the point that the moving situation is different when a couple is engaged or married. Jess from Florida moved to be with her boyfriend. She said it was a tough decision to make, but she’s happy so far. She doesn’t know anyone, but she’s still doing what she wanted to do-law school. She isn’t giving up her goals, and she’s also with her boyfriend. Tabitha in DC met her boyfriend at a destination wedding. He lives across the country in Phoenix. They see each other a couple of times a month. She would move in a heartbeat. She said “If you can move for work, why not move for love?” Renee from Michigan moved for love, but got a place on her own. She was able to find herself, and move for herself. She has no regrets, and is now married.
Patrick brought up the following: when one’s significant other moves, it brings on fear of a long distance relationship or of losing the person. Moving tests the relationship. Will we be good on our own by ourselves without our friends and connections? Do what is best for each individual. When facing a move for love, you get lots of pressure from family, friends, and society, as well as judgment from others. Another great Patrick quote: “If you are asking someone for advice, it’s generally because you know the right answer.” Own your move. It will either be a great life experience, or a not so great life experience. If it’s not a good one, move back to where you were. Great conversation today!

Cocktails with Patrick Recap - Tuesday, 6/1/10

Memorial Day Weekend Patrick and Chloe went out with with Taylor and Brett this Memorial Day weekend. They went to a nice restaurant that they did not have nice reservations at but Taylor pretended they did and she used her Cosmo credentials to get them a table. Patrick was impressed with Taylor’s skills. After that they went to a membership only roof top club and Taylor worked her magic again. Patrick and Chloe also R.S.V.P.’d to Taylor and Brett’s wedding. Lea was getting over being sick and she watched Keeping Up With the Kardashians and made a trip to Target.
Does Lea Have a Boyfriend? Patrick mentions that Lea has a “date” tomorrow night with Spot (Christian) from the Rich and Covino show. Lea said it is not a date they are just hanging out as friends. They are going out to the Conan O’Brian show and they will be getting some food.
Cocks with P Breaks the Band If you or anyone you know is an undiscovered musical talent please submit your music to cockswithpbreakstheband@gmail.com Patrick and Lea. You can submit originals or covers. Though Patrick said they would probably promote the women a little more heavily because it is the “fun, fearless female station” he encouraged men to submit music too. Music played today: Tara - Heart of Fire (original song) and Christian with a dance song about a girl who is turning 18 (Patrick didn’t mention the song title). Tweet your responses there will also be a Facebook page coming soon.
Rocky Update Rocky from Kansas sent an email to update Patrick that he had gone on a date. However it did not go well because he commented on her spray tan. Patrick thinks that might be some possible insight into why his dating life isn’t going so well.
Nipple Enhancers The visible nipple look is in right now. Victoria’s Secret even sells bras with “nipple enhancement”. Patrick wanted to know why girls hate on other girls nipples. Lea asked if Patrick would rather see nipples or cleavage. There was also a conversation about whether or not women were insecure about their nipples. A lot of women called in to say they were insecure about their nipples. The conversation then turned into padded bras and false advertising. Men wanted to know why we would false advertise because they would rather know what they are working with up front. Patrick said touching a padded bra is a weird sensation. The average size a guy is into out of a poll of 50,000 men turned out to be around 34B or C cup. One male caller said that some of the better breasts he had seen were actually A or B out of a bra.
Is it Crossing a Line if your Boyfriend/Girlfriend gets a Massage from a Coworker? General consensus was yes, this is inappropriate. If your partner is bothered by something it is crossing a line.
Last Call Lea saw Sex and the City and she liked the first movie better because it was a roller coaster of emotion.
Heidi and Spencer have separated.
